ISO 37001 certification cost has a date attached to it that most budgets miss: under IAF MD 30:2025, every initial certification and recertification from 31 August 2026 is to ISO 37001:2025 only, and every certificate to the 2016 edition expires at the end of the transition on 28 February 2027. So an organisation pricing certification in 2026 is pricing the second edition — with its added subclauses on climate change and compliance culture, its treatment of conflicts of interest and its clarified anti-bribery function — and an organisation holding a 2016 certificate is pricing a transition audit before the deadline. The cost itself is built from the usual four invoices: certification body fees over a three-year cycle, the anti-bribery management system build, optional consultancy and internal time — plus a fifth line unique to this standard, the due diligence on business associates and personnel that clause 8.2 requires and that scales with the number of relationships rather than the number of employees. Planning ranges, not quotes. The due diligence line is what makes ISO 37001 certification cost scale differently from other standards. Clause 8.2 requires due diligence on transactions, projects, activities, business associates and personnel where the bribery risk assessment says the risk is more than low; the standard’s definition of business associate is “deliberately broad” — clients, joint venture partners, contractors, consultants, suppliers, agents, distributors, intermediaries and investors — and the cost follows the count of exposed relationships and the depth proportionate to their risk, not the headcount. The transition itself is cheap; missing it is not. Fold the 2025 changes into the next surveillance audit rather than paying for a special audit, and start the gap work now — the compliance-culture and conflict-of-interest additions need records that take months to accumulate.
How much does ISO 37001 certification cost?
As a planning range, $18,000 to $51,000 in cash over three years for a small low-exposure firm, $50,000 to $148,000 for a mid-size company using agents or selling to the public sector, and $126,000 to $360,000 or more for a multi-country group — before internal time. Due diligence on business associates is the line that scales fastest.
Which edition are we certified to in 2026?
ISO 37001:2025. Under IAF MD 30:2025, initial certification and recertification are to the 2025 edition only from 31 August 2026, and 2016 certificates expire at the end of the transition on 28 February 2027.
What does the transition cost?
Usually additional time at a scheduled surveillance audit plus the gap work on the 2025 changes — climate change, compliance culture, conflicts of interest and the anti-bribery function. A special transition audit costs more; a lapsed certificate costs a full initial audit.
Why are anti-bribery audits dearer than quality audits?

Does certification prove we are bribery-free?
No. ISO 37001:2025 states that conformity cannot provide assurance that no bribery has occurred or will occur; it evidences reasonable and proportionate measures to prevent, detect and respond to bribery.
